Uzu :: Whirlpools Silver Diamond Pendant
Inspired by the Naruto whirlpools of Tokushima Prefecture
The pattern of the whirl has had a strong influence on many of Japan’s designs. The whirl revolves with great vigor, and in the center of it shines a great diamond. We want to express the dynamic and graceful nature of the whirl. The gentle sheen on the surface makes the diamond in the center stand out all the more. Contriving expression from the surface of metal is the style of Shinko Studio. We strive to create a texture so soft that it seems not even metal. Around the diamond we create a mirror-like surface. In the core of that the diamond is set, where it reflects and shines brilliantly.
Cold Chisel
A tool called a cold chisel is used to carve into the metal around the diamond and keep it in place. Setting a diamond artfully is a skill that requires long training. We have also been very meticulous about the beauty of the sides. Jewelry is something that you can view from all angles. This philosophy is why we pay careful attention to even the form of the sides as we design.
