Pt950 Pearl Earrings with Japanese Engraving Bespoke
These earrings are made of matte-finished platinum with Japanese engraving and set with three Akoya pearls of different sizes.
The sharp radial Japanese carvings sparkle as the wearer moves, creating an appealing visual effect that is difficult to convey in a photograph.
The combination of the unique brilliance of the Japanese carving and the soft light reflected by the Akoya pearls is a stark contrast.
The process of making an order with Japanese engraving is actually a little complicated.
The first step is to create the base platinum earrings. Based on a CAD model drawn by the designer, a craftsman creates the earrings from a platinum plate so that they have symmetrical curves on both ears.
Only the surface where the Japanese engraving will be added later is finished matte, while other parts are polished to a smooth mirror surface.
Next, a carving craftsman engraves straight lines of Japanese carving on the matt surface.
At this point, the earrings already have some of the back metal fittings and the pins for setting the pearls later welded to the earrings.
The carving process must be carried out in such a way as not to damage them.
It requires a very high level of skill to engrave straight lines at precise intervals.
Finally, the craftsman who produced the base earrings finalises the entire earring. After adjusting the spring clasp on the back of the earring and setting the pearls, the earring is complete.
Careful attention to detail is hidden behind the glamorous production of jewelry.
In most cases, a custom-made product with Japanese engraving will be unique in both design and structure.
The time required is also more than that of other custom-made items. And repeated consultations are the only way to create a special piece of jewelry.
Custom-made jewelry, filled with the customer’s thoughts and the advanced skills and experience of the craftsman, will continue to exist in the world for many years to come.
In a sense, the jewelry may have a value that cannot be measured by current prices.
