We will held an Asagi Maeda exhibition from October 8 (Fri) – 18 ( Mon) at SHINKO STUDIO Tokyo Shop. Asagi Maeda has been energetically creatingting contemporary jewelry in Japan.
Her works are highly regarded, mainly in the United States. Her pieces are owned by Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and the Museum of Arts and Design, MAD in New York. The last day ends at 16:00.
It may be a reason why it is very familiar to the general public because she creats both large-scale pieces as arts and jewelry that can be worn in our ordinary days.
Her jewelery expresses everyday life.
It gently teaches us what is important to people in the Corona era.
Red carpet / necklace / sterling silver, k18, CZ, acrylic glass
Asagi Commentary:
I made this necklace for an exhibition called “red” few years ago. When I was thinking what to do with ‘red’, I saw the Oscar on TV by chance. I remember that I was thrilled when I came up with this idea of the red carpet. There are lots of media photographers and reporters in oxidized silver (though you can’t see very well the details in the picture). I used CZ for the camera flashes. Celebrities are in K18.
To show the red carpet and celebrities more impressively, I made the angle of the carpet about 110 degree not the right angle. And it was difficult to make it look real. Making strange angled acrylic box was difficult too. But I succeeded with them
